The working stage name for Raleigh, NEW YORK singer/songwriter Jamil Rashad, Boulevards makes old-school, ’80s-influenced funk and R&B. The kid of the Philly-born jazz radio DJ, Rashad was raised hearing his parents’ classic jazz and spirit collection. By his teenagers Rashad was composing his very own rap lyrics, aswell as participating in punk, steel, and hardcore displays. After senior high school, he went to art college and played in a number of rings before gravitating back again to his like of funk, disco, and ’80s home music. Dealing with a small number of companies including Isaac Gálvez and Flavor Nasa, Rashad shipped a four-track EP in 2015. In 2016 he came back with Boulevards’ full-length debut, Groove!, offering the singles “Surely got to Move” and “Frosty Call.”
