Born Lichelle Laws and regulations, Boss is a lady gangster rapper who, along with her partner Dee, became the initial female rap action to become signed to Russell Simmons’ Def Jam Western world label. Originally both hailed from Detroit, but after a short stint in NY, the pair going western world to L.A. where they resided in near poverty for 3 years before attaining the interest of DJ Quik and finding a record deal; ultimately releasing Blessed Gangstaz in 1993.
