Boris Malkovsky

Boris Malkovsky is a composer, pianist, and bayan (key accordion) player located in Israel. He released the amazing Time Petah-Tiqva recording on John Zorn’s Tzadik imprint in 2007. The piece, which mixes Jewish traditional styles and jazz improvisation with Gypsy and traditional motifs, was originally commissioned from the Tel Aviv Chamber Music Outfit for members from the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra to execute at a marriage celebration. Malkovsky extended the structure for the Tzadik launch, which features his personal bayan playing along with Ora Boazson on contrabass as well as the Israel Modern String Quartet (cellist Hilla Epstein, violinists Hadas Fabricant and Tali Goldberg, and viola participant Amelia Hollander).
