Alan Gordon and Gary Bonner (aka Barten) 1st drew attention while members from the Magicians, a fresh York-based quartet dynamic between 1965 and 1966. When the group collapsed, Bonner released an unsuccessful single single the next year, ‘The Center Of Julie Jones’, that was produced by Jack port Nitzsche. Bonner and Gordon after that released a songwriting profession that flourished with ‘Happy Collectively’ and ‘She’d Rather Become With Me’, two US #1 1 singles for the Turtles. Further Best 20 entries adopted with ‘You KNOW VERY WELL WHAT I Mean’ and ‘She’s My Woman’, as the set also wrote strikes for Gary Lewis (‘Jill’), Petula Clark (‘Kitty In The Windowpane’) as well as the Mojo Males (‘Me About You’). Bonner/Gordon tracks were included in many other performers, including Bobby Darin as well as the Righteous Brothers. The duo became a member of Lovin’ Spoonful drummer Joe Butler to aid him in completing his group’s last album, Trend/Revelation ’69, but Bonner and Gordon’s collaboration was ultimately sundered by the end from the decade. Even though the set had been reunited in 1974 pursuing Bonner’s ill-fated single career, these were struggling to recapture the innocent heat of these early compositions.
