What Bola Sete are Portuguese for the seventh ball within the billiard game, that is the only dark one. He got his nickname after getting the only dark man in a little group. This two-year association, rewarding for both performers, consolidated the currently expressive reputation of Sete within the U.S. They documented jointly 1963’s Vince Guaraldi, Bola Sete & Close friends (Illusion). After that he produced his very own trio with Brazilian music artists Tião Neto (bass) and Chico Batera (drums), with which he performed on the 1966 Monterey Jazz Celebration, once again with great achievement. From November 11 to 13, 1966, Sete was highlighted on the Fillmore Auditorium. His produces within the U.S. consist of 1964’s Tour de Drive and From All Edges (with Vince Guaraldi), 1965’s The Single Electric guitar of Bola Sete as well as the Matchless Bola Sete, 1966’s Live at Un Matador (with Vince Guaraldi) and Autentico, 1967’s On the Monterey Jazz Celebration, 1969’s Shebaba (during Illusion), 1976’s Focusing on a Groovy Thing (Paramount), 1981’s Sea and Sea II (Shed Lake), and 1985’s Jungle Suite (Dance Kitty). In 1969, he made an appearance in the Mexico Brazilian and American Music Event, as well as Eumir Deodato, Milton Nascimento, and Airto Moreira.
