Bodacious D.F.

Bodacious D.F. was the next group that vocalist Marty Balin became associated with after departing Jefferson Aircraft in 1970. Initial, he directed the actions of Grootna, with whom he didn’t perform on the sole album. After that, he became associated with Bay Region music group Bodacious D.F. — Tag Ryan (bass, vocals), Dewey Dagreaze (drums, vocals), Vic Smith (acoustic guitar, vocals), and Charlie Hickox (keyboards, vocals). Bodacious D.F. documented one self-titled recording in 1973, which displayed Balin’s first LP appearance since Jefferson Airplane’s 1969 Volunteers recording. But, in 1974, Balin rejoined a few of his older Jefferson Aircraft cohorts in Jefferson Starship, departing Bodacious D.F. a one-shot work.
