Metal guitarist Bobby Dixon was among Tx’ great, but unheralded, instrumentalists from the 1950s. Starting his profession as an associate of Jerry Byler’s music group, while still in senior high school, in 1951, he toured america with Troy Jordan AS WELL AS THE Cross B Young boys two years afterwards. Odessa, Tx was the picture of a lot of Dixon’s early function. After briefly using guitarist/vocalist Bobby Hudnell on the Sportsman’s Membership in Odessa, he became a member of with vocalist/guitarist Billy Thompson within the citizen music group on the Melody Membership in 1954. Dixon seldom stayed with exactly the same music artists for long. Departing the Melody Golf club to play traditional western golf swing music with Hoyle Nix in Big Springs, he was quickly accompanying Natural cotton Collins, author of traditional nation tune, “Western Phalia Waltz”, in Austin. Dixon also spent a protracted time frame playing in San Angelo. Furthermore to dealing with Blackie Crawford’s music group, he helped to forma music group offering ex-Bob Wills pianist Marshall Turney, fiddlers Tommy Carnfield and Billy Cooper bassist Shan Kennedy and drummer Jimmy Dennis. Time for Odessa, Dixon bought the Dunnigan College of Music, where he previously used lessons as a young child. Teaching aspiring metal guitarists by day time, he continued to try out with the home music group at Melody Golf club at night.
