Biography
Bob Andy (b. Keith Anderson, 1944, Kingston, Jamaica) and Marcia Griffiths (b. Kingston, Jamaica) had been locally effective reggae solo performers before these were teamed up by manufacturer Harry J on the string-filled reggae edition of Nina Simone’s “Youthful, Gifted and Dark.” The tune became a high Ten U.K. strike on their behalf as Bob & Marcia in 1970. They implemented it in 1971 using a cover of Crispian St. Peters’ “Pied Piper,” but were not able to keep their European profession and came back to Jamaica to execute again as single singers. Griffiths became a member of Bob Marley’s feminine back-up trio, the I-Threes, but returned to solo function after Marley’s loss of life.
