Biography
American pop lyricist Bob Hilliard wrote hits in the middle-’40s through the first ’60s. Blessed in N.Con.C. in 1918, Hilliard was 28 yrs . old when he composed his first effective melody, “The Coffe Melody.” The next calendar year, he penned many more and composed for the Broadway present Angel within the Wings. Various other shows offering Hilliard’s songs had been Michael Todd’s Peep Present (1950) and Hazel Flagg (1953). He also acquired musical quantities in Disney’s 1952 cartoon feature Alice in Wonderland — “I’m Later,” “Extremely ADVICE,” and “All in the Golden Afternoon” — as well as the 1954 film Living It Up, including “Cash Burns a Gap in my own Pocket,” and “That’s What I LOVE.” Various other popular music by Hilliard consist of “Civilization” (1947), “Careless Hands” (1948), “Dear Hearts and Mild People” (1949 music created for Bing Crosby), “Become My Life’s Friend” (1951 music created for the Mills Brothers), “Bouquet of Roses” (1952), and “Every Street’s a Boulevard in Aged NY” (1953). In 1960, Hilliard shifted designs and centered on composing smooth rock strikes like “My Small Part of the Globe,” as well as the Ruby & the Romantics strike “Our Day SHOULD COME.” Over time, Hilliard collaborated with composers David Mann, Carl Sigman, Jule Styne, Sammy Fain, and much more.
