Biography
Both like a program man and presented recording designer, pianist Bob Gaddy produced his existence known on the brand new York blues picture through the 1950s. He’s still section of that circuit today. Gaddy was drafted in 1943, and that is when he started to consider the 88s significantly. He found a little carrying out encounter in California night clubs while stationed for the Western Coastline before arriving in NY in 1946. Gaddy gigged with Brownie McGhee and guitarist Larry Dale around city, McGhee frequently playing on Gaddy’s waxings for Jackson (his 1952 debut, “Bike Boogie”), Jax, Dot, Harlem, and from 1955 on, Hy Weiss’ Aged City label. There Gaddy remained the longest, waxing the good “I REALLY LIKE My Baby,” “Paper Woman,” “Rip and Operate,” and a number of even more into 1960. Sidemen on Gaddy’s Aged Town classes included guitarists Joe Ruffin and Crazy Jimmy Spruill and saxist Jimmy Wright. Since that time, Gaddy hasn’t documented anything of take note for domestic usage, but like his longtime cohort Larry Dale, he continues to be active around NY.
