Biography
Renowned British folksinger Bob Davenport is a leading tone of voice within the revival since showing up along with his Balladeers in the first ’60s at Southampton’s famous Fo’c’sle Folk Golf club. He spent nearly all his career using the Rakes, a quartet comprising Paul Gross (fiddle), Michael Plunkett (fiddle and whistle), and Reg Hall (melodeon), with whom he spent 40 years. He offers appeared on several compilations throughout his profession, including Topic Information’ superb nautical compilation Blow the person Down as well as the mining anthology The Iron Muse. He released Common Rock in 2005, an excellent assortment of traditional and modern folk tracks with guests offering Richard & Linda Thompson, Norma Waterson, and Chumbawamba.
