Bob Astor

b. USA. Astor founded his multiracial Bob Astor Music group in Hermosa Seaside in southern California, USA, in the first 40s. Having previously performed in little brass rings in New Orleans and Tx, he recruited sidemen including Zoot Sims, Neal Hefti, Larry Elgart, George Williams, Marty Napoleon, Irv Levin, Irv Kluger, Tony Faso, Tommy Allison, Ernie Figueroa and Shelly Manne. His vocalists included Kluger, Faso, Levin and Hefti in addition to Jo Napoleon. Popular around the western coastline, the group also toured throughout America, including residencies at locations like the William Penn Resort (Pittsburgh) and Elms Ballroom (Youngstown). With radio perform on shows like the Fitch Bandwagon, Astor penned compositions including ‘If You Don’t Believe I’m Departing, Count THE TIMES I’m Eliminated’, ‘Right here Shows up The Judge’, ‘Fats Sam’ and ‘In The Great FROM THE Evening’. However, non-e of these had been ever focused on vinyl, primarily due to the fact a musician’s hit coincided using a projected documenting agreement with Decca Information.
