Willie McFalls, a local Memphian from Tx, not Tennessee, took the chitlin circuit by shock in 1990 when the comical blues dialog of “Be-Who?” place his second record in the Billboard graphs and his work on the highway. Blues Boy Willie found Ichiban Records thanks to his boyhood friend from Tx, bluesman-producer Gary B. B. Coleman. Willie’s three albums to time all bear the normal Coleman contact — capable but predictable blues paths with a little studio band. It’s been the spunky spoken repartee between Willie and his wife Miss Lee in the novelty amounts that has gained Willie an urgent niche in the Southern soul-blues picture.
