Biography
Within the 1980s, the Blue Wisp Big Band was one among the very best jazz orchestras active in Cincinnati. The hard bop-oriented big music group documented four albums for the Mopro label; all the music was reissued within the middle-’90s on two SeaBreeze CDs and something of the units was documented in LA during a Western Coast tour. One of the group’s even more notable members had been trumpeter Tim Hagans, bassist Lynn Seaton, and innovator/drummer John Von Ohlen. The best band has continuing to perform in the Blue Wisp Jazz Golf club in Cincinnati on Wed nights since developing in 1980.
