Blonds’ stylish, electronic-infused indie pop is imbued with love and melodrama. Made up of few Cari Rae and Jordy Asher, the group (never to become confused using the Brooklyn by method of Oberlin dance music duo Blondes) created in West Hand Seaside, Florida, and self-released its 1st EP, Dark Origins, in November 2011. The EP’s dark wistfulness captivated attention from shops like Stereogum, Paste Journal, and Rolling Rock as Blonds started writing their 1st recording. By early 2012 Rae and Asher relocated to Brooklyn and became a member of maker Nicolas Vernjes (Spoon, Dirty Projectors, Deerhunter) to record their full-length debut, The Poor Ones. Leadoff solitary “Operate” found its way to June, using the Bad Types and second solitary “Period” pursuing in August.
