Blind Roosevelt Graves


Blind Roosevelt Graves was a Mississippi guitarist and singer who blended secular and sacred materials and trim some entertaining, celebratory party music in addition to reverential spirituals within the ’20s and ’30s. He used pianists Will Ezell and Cooney Vaughn, clarinetist Baby Jay. Graves was also an associate from the Mississippi Jook Music group, together with his sibling — vocalist and tambourine participant Uaroy Graves — and Vaughn. Hardly any biographical information on Blind Roosevelt Graves’ lifestyle are known. He and his sibling Uaroy started playing juke joint parts within the Mississippi Delta in the first ’20s. In 1929, both brothers cut several edges for the Paramount and American Record Businesses, which all made an appearance under Blind Roosevelt’s name. They might continue steadily to record until 1936. Within the middle-’30s, the set produced the Mississippi Jook Music group with pianist Cooney Vaughn. The music group documented for the American Record Firm in the middle- and past due ’30s. After abandoning these couple of recordings, Graves vanished in the first ’40s. It isn’t known where he resolved, nor is definitely his death day known.
