A native of LA, California’s Hollywood area, Blackbear — given birth to Matthew Musto — was referred to as a fledgling, rock-leaning singer/songwriter until he co-wrote Justin Bieber’s “Partner,” lots two hit within the Billboard Hot 100 in 2012. Around once, he reinvented himself like a rapper and even more R&B-oriented vocalist through the self-released Sex, which he was became a member of by fellow “Partner” co-writer Mike Posner, along with Wayne Blake and Maejor Ali. He also made an appearance on MGK’s Ribbons Up. An EP, The Afterglow, adopted in 2014. Another big stride was used the next yr with Deadroses, a self-released full-length that authorized on Billboard’s Uncharted report on produces from upcoming performers. Deadroses presented the singles “IDFC” and “90210” offering rapper G-Eazy. An EP of acoustic interpretations entitled Dead followed immediately after, before Musto released his sophomore established, Help, in 2015. The EPs Drink Bleach and Cashmere Noose both found its way to 2016, as do “STFU,” the debut one from Musto and Mike Posner’s choice hip-hop duo Mansionz. Two even more Mansionz singles preceded the project’s eponymous debut LP, released in March 2017. A month later, Blackbear released his third full-length record, Digital Druglord.
