Black Truth Rhythm Band

Hailing from Trinidad, Dark Truth Rhythm Music group were a big ensemble fronted by vocalist Oluko Imo. What separated the group from additional bands in your community was that instead of turn to American well-known music for motivation, they drew straight from African resources like Afro-beat and additional pop styles around the continent (the group’s users even required African titles). Deeply affected by Fela, Sonny Okosun, and Ebo Taylor, BTRB produced a hybrid audio that drew on the brand new African music aswell as the local vocal stylings of additional Caribbean countries. Their singular and spacy meld of funk, jazz, spirit, proto-reggae, steel music group, and Afro-beat was evidenced on the lone recording, Ifetayo, released in 1976, and later on reissued on both Compact disc and LP by Soundway. After BTRB disbanded, Imo continued to sing with Fela’s Egypt 80 music group.
