Birmingham Jones

b. Wright Birmingham, 9 January 1937, Saginaw, Michigan, USA. Shifting to Chicago around 1950, Jones was a saxophonist and guitarist with several blues bands through the entire 50s. By the center of the 10 years, when he documented for Ebony, he was a talented Small Walter imitator on harmonica. A 1965 program for Vivid was unissued for quite some time, and didn’t surpass the promise from the Ebony 78. Jones came back to club function, but had generally retired in the music business with the mid-70s.
