Birdland

The East Coastline punk unit Birdland was founded by Lester Bangs, better referred to as perhaps one of the most influential and notorious rock critics of his era. A indigenous of California, Bangs initial gained see in 1969 being a reviewer for Moving Stone newspaper, but his most significant success emerged in the middle-1970s at Creem, where he honed some sort of gonzo vital aesthetic which significantly expanded the variables of rock and roll music reportage. Among punk’s earliest & most vocal followers, while at CBGB’s in 1977 he fulfilled guitarist and songwriter Mickey Leigh, the sibling of Joey Ramone; Bangs and Leigh instantly produced Birdland, and started sometimes gigging around the brand new York City region. Their lone documenting time was on Apr Fool’s Time of 1979, if they snuck directly into Electric powered Ladyland studios through the middle of the night time and cut several music; when Birdland disbanded a few months later, just a tough cassette mix continued to be as proof their existence.
