Birdie Busch

Vocalist/songwriter Emily “Birdie” Busch produced her debut with 2006’s The Methods We Try, having traded in her day time job (like a cafe hostess in downtown Philadelphia) for the folksy instrumentation and delicate-voiced melodies that characterize her music. Originally from Collingswood, NJ, Busch went to the College or university of Miami before shifting to Philadelphia, where she discovered songwriting to be always a more expressive profession than cafe work. Busch completed her debut recording in springtime 2005; it had been released the next January by Club None Information and drew compliment from such shops as the Town Voice, who considered the recording “among the slyest neo-folky information in recent memory space.” On her behalf sophomore effort, Cent Arcade, Busch enlisted assistance from maker/musician Devin Greenwood (who also helmed her 2006 debut) to make a rousing follow-up towards the personal The Ways We Try. Cent Arcade premiered in Sept 2007, offering Busch’s oft-requested cover of Steve Miller Band’s “Crazy Hill Honey.”
