R&B duo Billy & Ricky teamed singers James Rickettsand Billy Williams, who 1st began collaborating in 1953 while co-founders from the Shirt Town vocal quartet the Roamers. After liberating a set of little-heard singles on Savoy — 1954’s “FROST NOVA” and the next year’s “Chop, Chop, Ching-A-Ling” — the Roamers’ documenting career essentially floor to a halt, although their Savoy offer held them under wraps until 1958. The group dissolved in 1959, and Ricketts and Williams started carrying out as Billy & Ricky, quickly putting your signature on to Juggy Murray’s Sue label release a the singles “Mama Papa Make sure you” and “How You Sound” to small see. In 1962 the duo reunited with fellow Roamers alum Sam Walton as the Astronauts, producing nothing at all beyond an unreleased demonstration before splitting two-years later on.
