Just like the glittery offspring of the brand new York Dolls, Billy Boy on Poison build a debauched, glammy, gender-bending design of rock and roll & move. The co-ed music group took form in 2006, when L.A. indigenous Davis LeDuke (vocals) started piecing jointly a lineup that included schoolmates Ryan Wallengren (electric guitar) and Julian Borrego (bass). LeDuke’s feminine cousin, Jessi Calcaterra, relocated from Colorado to be the band’s drummer, and guitarist Greg Western world joined up with after hearing LeDuke’s music on MySpace. Using their lineup solidly set up, the teenaged bandmates started playing the L.A. circuit and getting interest from such sector veterans as vocalist/songwriter Jude Cole. Impressed using their live show, Cole agreed upon the quintet to Ironworks Music, an unbiased label founded by Cole and professional Kiefer Sutherland. Billy Guy on Poison’s public debut found its way to early 2008, when Ironworks released the Special Mess EP. Twelve months later, Play Junkie Queen proclaimed the band’s initial full-length release.
