Biography
Bill Pierce is a superb saxophonist who also functions seeing that an educator. He began his profession in Boston playing R&B with such superstars as Stevie Question and Marvin Gaye. Nevertheless, he’s essentially a difficult bop participant, as he demonstrated during stints with Adam Williams (1979-1980 and 1984-1985) along with a high-profile association with Artwork Blakey’s Jazz Messengers (1980-1982); using the last mentioned he shared leading series with Wynton Marsalis and Bobby Watson. From 1986-1994, Pierce was a normal person in Tony Williams’ quintet, somehow producing himself heard on the leader’s extremely noisy drumming. He provides led many of his own schedules for Sunnyside.
