Biography
A superstar in her local New Zealand while still in her teenagers, singer/songwriter Bic Runga was created in Christchurch in 1976; the merchandise of the musical family members — her mom was a Malaysian nightclub performer through the 1960s — she started playing the drums at age 11, and within a couple of years was also performing with regional jazz organizations. Upon learning acoustic guitar and keyboards, Runga started composing her 1st tracks, and in 1994 she relocated to Auckland to go after a specialist music profession. In 1995, aged 19, she produced her Sony label debut using the solitary “Travel,” which rocketed in to the TOP on the brand new Zealand pop graphs and garnered her the renowned 1996 Metallic Scroll Honor, an honor provided for quality in songwriting. After touring to get Neil and Tim Finn, Runga released a follow-up solitary, “Bursting Through,” adopted in 1997 by the very best Ten smash “Sway.” Her self-produced debut LP, Drive, made an appearance later on that same calendar year and garnered New Zealand’s best music honours. In the past due ’90s, Runga spent time based in NEW YORK, where she started writing songs on her behalf follow-up record. She continuing to focus on brand-new songs after time for New Zealand, and embarked on a tour of the united states with Tim Finn and Dave Dobbyn in August and Sept 2000, leading to the 2001 discharge Jointly in Concert: Live. In 2003, Runga founded the Nu Shoo record label before kicking off another tour. She shipped Wild birds, her sequel to Beautiful Collision, in 2005; it debuted at number 1 on the brand new Zealand graphs and was authorized triple platinum. Runga had taken a protracted break after Wild birds, during which period she released the rarities collection Make an effort to Keep in mind Everything in 2008, before coming back in 2011 with Belle. The compilation Anthology found its way to 2012. Following a five-year break, she shipped the covers record Close Your Eye in 2016. Around its discharge, Runga was inducted in to the New Zealand Music Hall of Popularity.
