Biography

A superstar in her local New Zealand while still in her teenagers, singer/songwriter Bic Runga was created in Christchurch in 1976; the merchandise of the musical family members — her mom was a Malaysian nightclub performer through the 1960s — she started playing the drums at age 11, and within a couple of years was also performing with regional jazz organizations. Upon learning acoustic guitar and keyboards, Runga started composing her 1st tracks, and in 1994 she relocated to Auckland to go after a specialist music profession. In 1995, aged 19, she produced her Sony label debut using the solitary “Travel,” which rocketed in to the TOP on the brand new Zealand pop graphs and garnered her the renowned 1996 Metallic Scroll Honor, an honor provided for quality in songwriting. After touring to get Neil and Tim Finn, Runga released a follow-up solitary, “Bursting Through,” adopted in 1997 by the very best Ten smash “Sway.” Her self-produced debut LP, Drive, made an appearance later on that same calendar year and garnered New Zealand’s best music honours.
