Betwixt

Boston’s eclectic indie rock and roll four-piece Betwixt includes guitarist Tom Devaney, cellist Gordon Withers, drummer Dave Nelson, and vocalist Leah Callahan. Callahan, previously of Turkish Joy, started collaborating with Withers and Devaney and documented the group’s 1998 debut, Moustache, with unique drummer Chris Foley. Moustache gained vital acclaim nationally in addition to locally and was called among the year’s greatest albums with the Boston Phoenix as well as the Boston Herald; Betwixt was called the city’s greatest new music group by the neighborhood music newspaper, The Sound. After Foley still left the group, Nelson, also a previous Turkish Joy member, became a member of Betwixt with time to try out on 1999’s The Salty Tang.
