Biography

Within a town known because of its songwriters, Austin, Texas-based Betty Elders rates one of the better. With her poetic lyrics established to heartfelt acoustic melodies, Elders continues to be turning minds for greater than a decade. Her music have been included in Sarah Elizabeth Campbell, Crow Johnson, COMPLETELY NEW Methods, Leslie Smith, Eric Taylor and Beth & Apr Stevens. Elders was one of the singer/songwriters marketed by Joan Baez. Furthermore to presenting Baez record her tune “Split in the Reflection” on her behalf 1997 record Gone From Risk, Elders was asked to take part in a multi-artist revue that Baez hosted in the bottom Line in NY, Toad’s Put in place New Haven, Connecticut and Ben & Jerry’s Folk Celebration in Newport, Rhode Isle. Not only is it showcased being a soloist, Elders became a member of Baez for duet renditions of her music “Crack within the Reflection” and “Long Bed from Kenya.” A live documenting of “Longer Bed from Kenya,” from Ben & Jerry’s Folk Festival, was included being a reward monitor on copies of Eliminated From Danger marketed by Edges Books. Elders demonstrated musical guarantee from an early on age. Starting piano lessons at age four, she composed her first music within 2 yrs. Inspired with the poetry of Robert Frost, Carl Sandburg and Robert Louis Stevenson, she started composing poetry at age ten. 3 years later among her poems, “Snow,” was browse before faculty associates of the School of NEW YORK in Greensboro. Elders released a cassette of her music, After the Drape, on her very own label, Whistling Pig, in 1981. Shifting to Austin with her parents in 1984, Elders continuing to develop being a performer. Her initial album-length work, Daddy’s Coal, released in 1989, seduced vital acclaim and received many awards — Greatest Independant Tape, Melody of the entire year (distributed by two music on the record), Best Feminine Songwriter and Greatest Feminine Vocalist — in Austin’s Music Town Tx Insiders Poll. Her second record, Peaceful Life, was analyzed favorably in magazines throughout the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and as a long way away as Italy and the uk. Elders released her initial nationally distributed record, Crayons, in 1995.
