Biography

Novelist, playwright, poet, professional, and outspoken activist Benjamin Zephaniah was created on Apr 15, 1958, and spent his early lifestyle growing up both in Jamaica and Birmingham, Britain. Though he previously been composing poems his life time, he was also dyslexic, and he quit his formal schooling as a teen. In 1979 Zephaniah transferred to London and released his initial reserve of poetry, Pencil Rhythm, another calendar year. In 1983 his debut record, Rasta, premiered, accompanied by 1984’s Us an Dem, 1995’s Back again to Root base, and 1996’s Tummy of de Beast. A prolific article writer, Zephaniah was also the receiver of honorary doctorates from many universities in Britain, a Article writer in Residence on the School of Cambridge, and on the shortlist for the 2005 United kingdom Book Honours Decibel Author of the entire year. In 2003 he refused a nomination for the esteemed Order from the United kingdom Empire, sending a notice towards the Guardian that described his known reasons for declining the honor. In 2006, Zephaniah released Nude, an recording of his poetry performed over dub and trip-hop beats.
