Known principally for his tunes “A Serenata” (created with Raul Sampaio) and “Eu Compro Essa Mulher” (with Raul Sampaio/Ivo Santos), Benil Santos moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1950, having been employed by Rádio Mayrink Veiga. Later on, he became a maker and loudspeaker at that radio train station, where in 1958 he produced the display Manhã de Grande Gala. In the same 12 months, he became A&R movie director at RGE, a posture that he’d keep for seven years. Also in 1958, he previously one of is own creations documented for the very first time, “Noites Cruéis usually” (with Raul Sampaio). Five years later on, he won Television Rio’s Event de Música perform Brasil (Rio de Janeiro) using the track “Distância” (with Raul Sampaio), documented by Rosana Toledo and Miltinho.
