Ben Black

Ben Dark is a encouraging but obscure jazz vocalist who frequently performed around Seattle in the 1990s. Like Jimmy Scott, Dark has been affected by female performers to the idea that he frequently appears like he could possibly be one himself. Scott is certainly among Black’s primary affects, as are Billie Vacation and Dinah Washington. There’s also traces of Mel Torme in his simple phrasing. Black was created on the U.S. Military Medical center at Ford Ord in Monterey, CA, but he’d finish up surviving in the Seattle Region. In 1995 and 1996, a 29-year-old Dark recorded the materials noticed on his debut record, IN THE Mellow Build, which Seattle pianist Barney McClure released on his MNOP label a couple of years later.
