Beaten by Them

Formed in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA in 2005 by Australian natives guitarist Andrew Harris and guitarist/keyboardist Maximum McCormick, the experimental indie rock and roll ensemble Beaten by Them also feature the talents of cellist Boima Tucker, drummer Ulf Bjorkbom, and bassist Lee Matheson. A tour in 2007 resulted in recording classes at John Vanderslice’s Small Telephone studio, where in fact the band centered on developing its eclectic mixture of rock and roll, dance, jazz, and traditional sounds. Originally blended at McCormick’s Melbourne-based Logicpole studio room, the band’s debut record, Signs of Lifestyle, premiered on Thrill Jockey in 2008.
