Perhaps most widely known mainly because the singer and guitarist from the Austin, Texas band LIONS, Matt Drenik explores lo-fi folk and electro along with his solo project Battleme. Were only available in 2009 after he was identified as having uveitis, an auto-immune disease that impacts the eye, the songwriter started to discover his writing relocating a far more expansive and personal path. Searching for an store for all of this fresh materials, he relocated from Austin to Portland, Oregon and started writing tunes in his cellar, ultimately churning out over 40 tunes before obtaining the interest of Ghostland Observatory’s Thomas Turner, who authorized him to his Trashy Moped label this year 2010. Drenik continuing to create and refine his audio, developing a contemplative mixture of lo-fi, folk, and electro that was a significant departure from your giant rock and roll jams of LIONS. His full-length debut under his single moniker, the eponymously entitled Battleme, eventually found its way to 2012 on Trashy Moped.
