New York-based Batidos (milkshakes in Spanish) comprised Chicago-born DJ and manufacturer Ron Trent and acidity jazz Groove Collective’s talented saxophonist, flute participant, and clarinetist Jay Rodríguez. The experimental duo teamed up with Grammy earning Chucho Valdés and percussionist Eddie Bobe to create their debut record, Olajope, an experimental record offering traditional Latin American rhythms, jazz, Afro-Cuban noises, and electronica.
