Bass Communion

Biography

Steven Wilson isn’t a guy to rest in his laurels — like his likewise disposed No-Man partner Tim Bowness, Wilson isn’t content to let one group or project be the sum of his musical work. Beginning in 1994, Wilson started solo recordings referred to as “tests in structure,” leading to his work beneath the name Bass Communion. Eschewing synths and keyboards, Wilson, within this guise, works together with sampled live shows of a number of musical instruments, sometimes by using other music artists like Robert Fripp, to make a series of great ambient/electronic parts. Two self-titled albums made an appearance by the finish from the ’90s, the next of which highlighted an added bonus EP including additional work and tests, while another, collecting different recordings over time, made an appearance in 2001. Besides this function, two additional Bass Communion produces can be found, both of particular curiosity. Jointly they comprise the total of Wilson’s use observed underground U.K. digital musician Bryn Jones, aka Muslimgauze, who Wilson initial discovered via the wonderful Blue Mosque place. After a conference and exchange of music, Wilson was amazed to receive some remixes from Jones several times afterward — he afterwards found that Jones was usually compelled to “improve” music directed at him. Inspired from the outcomes — one No-Man remix later on appeared on the formal single launch — Wilson suggested a collaborative work involving swapping songs backwards and forwards, which Jones gladly agreed to. A complete album entitled Bass Communion vs. Muslimgauze was finished but didn’t see launch before Jones’ untimely loss of life in 1998. It made an appearance the following 12 months, while Wilson finished two last paths for a likewise entitled EP released in 2000.

#Quote
1 The r-word is the same as every minority slur. Treat it that way and don't use it.
2 [on 'Glee'] I don't think you can underestimate truly how powerful this show has been and will continue to be. It's the place where you can go where you're celebrated for who you are. It's this safe refuge for kids. That's what we're all looking for. We're still in high school, a lot of us.
3 [on Neil Patrick Harris] He's all over the place, but in a good way. There's a method in what seems to be the madness in him doing this and then doing that, hosting this and then doing that. I'm always watching Neil from the corner of my eye.
4 [on playing Miss Hannigan in a Broadway revival of "Annie"] I'm reacquainted now with why I wanted to get into this crazy business. I love being onstage. I love performing. I love the immediate response from the audience. I love theater people. I love theater. I love putting on my own makeup. I love the whole thing.
5 To this day, well, like, I'll see a very fey guy on TV and I'll be thinking, "Couldn't you butch it up a little?". I want us to make ourselves palatable to the world.
6 [on realizing, at 12, she was gay] I knew instinctively it was a disease and a curse. No one could ever, ever know.
7 [on her clothing] I don't wear particular designers. I wear whoever fits me well. I try to dress the bottom I have. The body I have and the bottom I have. I have the intention of looking fabulous every time, and I care about it a great deal. I'm very vain.
8 [on being a stepmother to her partner's daughter, Haden Ryan-Embry] I'm almost 50, and I thought that possibility was behind me, so this is a real delight. I never went through a biological clock experience. I never even heard it ticking.
9 [In an Interview with the UK Mirror on why she did not tell her parents she is a lesbian until she was 31 years old] I didn't want to be gay. I wanted to be... I wanted an easy life. And you know what? I am gay and I still have an easy life.
10 On her first Golden Globe nomination: I slept through (the nominations announcement). But, I got up to six messages and went, "Ah! I wonder if there is some good news for us?" And there was. My agent called me three times and said, "Why aren't you up?: So, yeah. I called my mom, and she said, "The golden what?".
