Biography

A colorful group that utilizes four-to-six percussionists, dancers and a number of solo instruments, Barefoot was founded in 1988 by percussionist Clay Henry (who within the 1960’s have been a jazz bassist in NY) and violinist Steve Kindler (previously having a later on version from the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Jan Hammer and Jeff Beck). Kindler and Henry fulfilled while surviving in Big Sur (where Henry experienced headed an identical band known as Pulsations for six years) and their objective was to create a very open up group that mixed together the independence of jazz, folkish melodies and a lot of dancers. With such individuals as flutist Sulubika (who became a member of on Charles Lloyd’s suggestion), saxophonist Peter Apfelbaum, visitor bassist David Friesen as well as the wordless vocals of Jackie Ryan, Barefoot documented its debut Compact disc for Global Pacific in 1990.
