Biography

A family group affair from Memphis, TN, comprising siblings: Barbara (lead), Roberta, Betty, and Maurice Dark brown. Another sibling, Richard, wrote a number of the groupings’ materials. They began performing gospel but made a decision to make a go at secular music having a documenting on Wilmo Information entitled “You Participate in Her” b/w “Big Party” (January 1964). Wilmo leased the expert to Stax Information, who reissued the documenting March 1964. The record didn’t perform very much, but Stax remained faithful and released “IN MY OWN Center” b/w “Make sure you Be Honest BESIDE ME” Sept 1964; it do just a little better and was performed in some towns beyond Memphis, however the decrease, mundane Deannie Parker and Steve Cropper structure by no means broke out anywhere. Neither do the 3rd and last Stax platter made up by Barbara, “I Don’t Want Problems” b/w “My Enthusiast” (January 1965). A 1966 solitary on Cadet Information, “I Don’t Want to hold back” b/w “A lot of Space,” made by Papa Don Schroeder, didn’t ignite; ditto for your final solitary on XL Information “YOU DO NOT Like Me” b/w “EASILY Can’t Set you back You I’ll Crawl for you.” Following a brief try at secular achievement, the Browns’ came back to their phoning: performing the praises of god, the father.
