Barbara Sfraga

A native and citizen of the brand new York Region, Barbara Sfraga is really a risk-taking jazz vocalist and lyricist that has listed everyone from Betty Carter, Tag Murphy and Jon Hendricks to Joni Mitchell and Janis Joplin as affects. The singer was created and elevated in Bay Shoreline, Long Isle, and she went to Long Island University or college from 1974-76 before shifting to Connecticut in 1976 and going to the University or college of Bridgeport from 1976-78. Sfraga majored in traditional tone of voice at Bridgeport, but after finding the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Anita O’Day, she became set on jazz performing. Sfraga soon found out the improvements of Tag Murphy, Betty Carter and Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, and in the 1980s, she started performing jazz in NY night clubs. In 1996, Sfraga founded In collaboration with our Community (a business whose initial objective was using social events to improve money for children’s businesses), and in 1998, she documented her first recording as a innovator, Oh, JUST WHAT A Excitement. The album used such noteworthy guests as Tag Murphy (who published the liner records) and pianist Fred Hersch. In 2003, Sfraga’s sophomore record, Beneath the Moon, premiered with the Chicago-based A440 label.
