Barbados

Barbados certainly are a Swedish pop dansband that peaked in reputation during 2000-2002 using a succession of strong Melodifestivalen showings. Most widely known because of its association with chart-topping superstar Magnus Carlsson, the band’s reputation plummeted after his departure in 2002. Founded in 1992 in Gothenburg, Sweden, Barbados are made up of Mathias Lager (electric guitar, vocals), Peter Samuelsson (bass, vocals), Magnus Wictorinsson (drums), and Håkan Swärd (keyboards). With Carlsson as its primary lead vocalist, the band produced its eponymous recording debut in 1995 with Barbados. Not really until five years later on — following the release from the follow-up albums The Lion Sleeps Tonight (1997), Nu Kommer Flickorna (1998), Belinda (1999), and Rosalita (1999) — do the music group break to mainstream achievement when its music “Se Mig” earned second put in place the 2000 Melodifestivalen. Barbados consequently won second put in place the 2001 Melodifestivalen making use of their music “Allt Som Jag Ser” and 4th put in place the 2001 Melodifestivalen with “Världen Utanför,” plus they hit the very best Five from the Swedish graphs with their following two albums, Kom Hem (2000) and Världen Utanför (2002). By the end of 2002 Carlsson remaining Barbados and became a member of the Euro-dance group Alcazar. Mathias Holmgren got the area of Carlsson because the band’s business lead singer, as well as the ensuing full-length recording, Hela Himlen (2003), was a disappointment which was outsold from the greatest-hits collection Greatest of Barbados 1994-2004 (2005) released in its wake. Barbados regrouped with Chris Lindh acquiring the area of Holmgren as business lead vocalist, but this do little to boost their fortunes because the ensuing recording, Stolt (2005), offered badly. In 2007 Björn Lagerström became another business lead singer to become listed on the music group, which obtained its first graph hit, albeit a one, in a number of years with “Vinterstorm” in 2008.
