Biography
Charity supergroup Music group Help was formed in London, Britain in 1984 by Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof and manufacturer Midge Ure. Designed to finance anti-poverty initiatives in Ethiopia, the ensemble documented the one “Perform They Understand It’s Xmas?” for discharge through the 1984 holidays. Aided by vocal initiatives from Bono, Sting, George Michael, Boy George, Simon Le Bon, and a bunch of other modern pop superstars of your day, the one topped the pop graphs, becoming the main Christmas one of the entire year and increasing a lot more than $24,000,000 because of its trigger. Such was Music group Aid’s success, other celebrity-aided agencies launched fundraising promotions the following season leading to the star-studded Live Help concert as well as the American charity supergroup USA for Africa. “Perform They Understand It’s Xmas?” remains a favorite holiday one and it has been re-recorded double by updated variations of Band Help through the group’s 20th and 30th anniversaries with proceeds once again going to comfort initiatives in Africa.
