Baiba Skride

Baiba Skride is a Latvian violinist, raised in Riga inside a musical house with her sisters, pianist Lauma Skride and violist Linda Skride. Beginning in 1995, she went to the Conservatory of Music and Movie theater in Rostock, learning with Petru Munteanu. In 2001 she gained the Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition in Brussels. She’s performed all over the world with main orchestras, like the Berlin Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, the London Philharmonic, and many more. Among her collaborators are conductors Christoph Eschenbach, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Andris Nelsons, Neeme Järvi, Paavo Järvi, and Mario Venzago, and chamber music artists Bertrand Chamayou, Brett Dean, Sol Gabetta, Alban Gerhardt, Xavier de Maistre, and her sister, Lauma Skride, who often accompanies her. Baiba Skride has a 1734 Stradivarius, the “Ex girlfriend or boyfriend Baron Feilitzsch,” in the assortment of Gidon Kremer.
