Bad Lieutenant

Created in 2007 by guitarist Bernard Sumner (Pleasure Division, New Purchase, Electronic), Bad Lieutenant — indeed called following Abel Ferrara’s 1992 film starring Harvey Keitel — presented guitarist Phil Cunningham (Marion, New Purchase) and vocalist Jake Evans (Rambo & Leroy). With New Purchase officially break up, Sumner’s longtime musical partner Stephen Morris, along with Blur’s Alex Wayne, aided Poor Lieutenant through the documenting of their debut recording, By no means Cry Another Rip (Triple Echo, Oct 2009), that was preceded from the Sept single “Kitchen sink or Swim.” Around enough time from the song’s launch, the band started gigging with Morris (evidently not really a full-fledged member, nevertheless) on drums and Tom Chapman on bass.
