Bachman-Turner Overdrive

Biography

Pursuing his 1970 departure in the Think Who, guitarist Randy Bachman documented a single album (Axe) and prepared a task with ex-Nice keyboardist Keith Emerson (later canceled because of illness) before developing Bachman-Turner Overdrive in 1972. Originally known as “Daring Belt,” the steel group was made up of vocalist/guitarist Bachman, fellow Figure Who alum Chad Allan, bassist C.F. “Fred” Turner, and Randy’s sibling, drummer Robbie; following a couple of LPs (Daring Belt I and Daring Belt II), Allan was changed by another Bachman sibling, guitarist Tim, and in homage towards the trucker’s newspaper Overdrive, the machine became BTO. While their self-titled 1973 debut triggered little impact within the U.S. or the band’s indigenous Canada, Bachman-Turner Overdrive II was a smash, netting popular single using the anthemic “Takin’ Treatment of Business.” Before the discharge of 1974’s Not really Delicate, Tim Bachman exited the group to begin with a profession in creation, and was changed by Blair Thornton; the record was a chart-topping achievement, and notched lots a unitary with “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ However.” After 1977’s Freeways, Randy Bachman still left the group for any solo profession and created another group, Ironhorse. Bachman-Turner Overdrive continuing on in his lack with alternative Jim Clench for just two more albums, Road Action and Rock and roll n’ Roll Evenings (both 1978), ultimately changing their name to just BTO. In the tail-end from the 10 years, the music group dissolved, however in the 1980s they re-grouped to tour as both Bachman-Turner Overdrive (led by Randy) and BTO (led by Robbie); the ensuing misunderstandings the name video game triggered ultimately led to Randy Bachman submitting match against his one-time bandmates for privileges towards the group’s logo.
