Biography
Given birth to on June 17, 1946, in London, B.J. Cole was influenced from the instrumental function from the Shadows’ Hank Marvin, and found a acoustic guitar. He worked well his method through various variations of the device, eventually buying pedal-steel guitar. Through the 1970s, Cole was a sought-after program guy, playing alongside Elton John, Scott Walker, T. Rex, and Nazareth, amongst others. He also founded the post-psychedelic, country-influenced combo Cochise in 1970, and released three albums using the group. Cole released the solo work New Hovering Doggie upon the dissolution from the music group, and continued to utilize David Sylvian (1986’s ambient piece Attended Globe), and vocalist Hank Wangford. The ambient nation piece Transparent Music made an appearance in 1989. Cole continuing to are a program man through the entire 1990s, adding to the work from the Verve, Björk, and Beck, amongst others. In 2000 he collaborated with electronica experimentalist and maker Luke Vibert on Quit the Stress, which intersected his shimmering electric guitar lines using the squelch and bop of Vibert’s consumer electronics.
