Enthusiastic about early punk and new wave, either with synthesizers (the Screamers, Devo) or without (the a huge selection of overlooked bands maintained on Wiped out by Loss of life and Bloodstains comps), Ausmuteants certainly are a group from Australia who’ve mixed cheap guitars and thrift-store electronics into bracing (if often off-kilter) rock and roll & move with serious pop hooks. Ausmuteants had been created by two close friends from Geelong (a slot town in Victoria), Jake Robertson on acoustic guitar and keyboards and Billy Gardner on drums. This minimalist lineup started making tapes in the home, and they put together the cream of their early attempts around the 2012 recording Break up Personalities.
