Oslo, Norway’s Aura Noir is really a side project for a few of the neighborhood extreme steel scene’s most noted luminaries, to wit: vocalist/bassist Ole Jørgen Moe, guitarist Carl-Michael Eide (both of these also with Cadaver and Dødheimsgard), guitarist Rune Erickson (Mayhem, Mezzerschmitt), and, lately, drummer Dirge Rep (Enslaved, Gehenna, etc.). Obtaining their start as soon as 1993, the casual supergroup issued several demos before debuting in 1995 using the Dreams Like Deserts EP, which uncovered them to end up being essentially thrash fans immersed within the stylistic trappings of the encompassing black steel community. Aura Noir’s follow-up initiatives have got included 1997’s Dark Thrash Strike, 1999’s Deep Tracts of Hell, and 2000’s Elevated Damnation — the final which also featured visitor efforts from Darkthrone tale Fenriz.
