Auntie Christ

Auntie Christ was a short-lived punk rock and roll side task, comprised initially of longtime X associates Exene Cervenka (vocalist, electric guitar) and D.J. Bonebrake (drums), furthermore to Rancid bassist Matt Freeman. Produced in 1996, the seed products of Auntie Christ had been planted throughout a possibility conference between Cervenka and Freeman at a celebration on the infamous LA punk membership the Masque (that was reopened to celebrate the discharge from the Compact disc Live In the Masque, released on Cervenka’s record label, Calendar year 1 Information). When Cervenka asked Freeman if he understood of any bass players which were designed for her prepared project (whose objective was to create a music group “within the truest heart of punk,” but with today’s view), the Rancid bassist provided his providers. The trio documented a two-song demonstration shortly thereafter, that was released with the Lookout! label simply because an individual in early 1997, Poor Trip/The Nothing Era, before chasing it up with an effective full-length debut, Lifestyle Is actually a Fantasy. The trio backed the recording with some live shows within the California region, but when programs were designed for a more comprehensive tour from the U.S., Freeman needed to bow away because of prior commitments to Rancid. Undeterred, Cervenka and Bonebrake soldiered on with an upgraded bassist, Janis Tanaka, from the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA group Rock Fox.
