Ashrae Fax

Greensboro, North Carolina’s cult dream-pop revivalists Ashrae Fax featured vocalist Renee Mendoza and guitarist Alex Chesney. Several self-described “artwork children,” the pair’s disappointment with having less anything interesting happening in their city in the past due ’90s gave form with their music, which revitalized probably the most ethereal and chaotic occasions from the Cocteau Twins, Dif Juz, and Siouxsie as well as the Banshees. The set self-released the debut recording Static Crash in 2003 on spray-painted CD-Rs to small acclaim at that time, but ultimately term spread. The recording was reissued on cassette in 2005 and once again on vinyl in 2011 in a restricted release of 300 copies that quickly sold-out and spurred even more fascination with Static Crash through the music press. Mexican Summertime gave the record its widest discharge yet using their 2013 reissue, the initial in some Ashrae Fax produces. Next was 2014’s HARDLY EVER REALLY Been INVOLVED WITH IT, a re-recorded assortment of Mendoza and Chesney’s first tracks. The duo reunited for a small number of live schedules that season. After Ashrae Fax disbanded, Mendoza performed in the rock and roll clothing Filthybird with her hubby Brian Haran, and in addition shaped the drone-oriented trio Ama Divers with Haran and Chris Girard. Mendoza also done a single R&B task with Megafaun/Gayngs’ Brad Make as co-producer. In the meantime, Chesney made digital music as Faster Details.
