As You Drown

Originally formed in 2003 mainly because Ethereal, Borås, Sweden, natives Mikael Åkerström (guitar/vocals), Simon Exner (guitar), Martin Latvala (drums), and Alexander Persson (bass) met up to try their hand at crafting among Sweden’s best musical exports: death metal. The group self-released several demos between 2003-2005 and were able to play some displays supporting fellow Western metal works like Entombed and Vader before encountering their 1st group of lineup adjustments. In 2005 Åkerström made a decision to concentrate on his acoustic guitar playing, choosing to generate Christopher Ranasen to get his vocal responsibilities. They also earned bassist Robert Karlsson to displace Persson, who was simply leaving the music group to review in Japan. Using the lineup solidified, the music group further honed its audio, a mixture of the specialized ferocity of Behemoth using the heaviness of Morbid Angel. In 2007 the music group self-released a demonstration album titled basically Demonstration 2007. In 2008 the music group switched singers once more, changing Ranasen with ex-Shadowbuilder vocalist Henrik Blomqvist. With a fresh recording task underway and a fresh lineup, the music group decided to modify its name, shedding Ethereal and becoming reborn using its current moniker, As You Drown. In ’09 2009, their full-length debut, Representation, premiered in Europe as well as the U.S. by Metallic Blade.
