Biography

Arto Noras, among Finland’s best-known performers, loves the trustworthiness of a world-class cellist. Praising his impeccable, organic, seemingly easy virtuosity, critics also have commented over the effective expressiveness of Noras’ playing. His huge passion and consummate musicianship also prolong to chamber music and teaching. Among his many musical tasks may be the Naantali Music Celebration, which has progressed into among Finland’s great musical establishments. Blessed in 1942, Noras initial examined cello with Yrjo Selin on the Sibelius Academy. He afterwards visited Paris to review with Paul Tortelier, graduating from the Paris Conservatory in 1964. 2 yrs afterwards, Noras gained second prize on the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, attaining international identification and introducing a concert profession. Following travels in North and SOUTH USA, Noras became teacher of cello on the Sibelius Academy in 1970. An extremely regarded instructor, Noras also discovered period for chamber music, notably as person in the Sibelius Academy Quartet. In 1980, Noras founded the Naantali Chamber Music Celebration, also initiating the International Paulo Cello Competition 11 years afterwards. Having mastered the original cello repertoire, Noras provides played and documented many functions by distinguished modern composers, including concertos by Einojuhani Rautavaara, Henri Dutilleux, Leif Segerstam, and Erik Bergman.
