Arti & Mestieri

The sextet Arti & Mestieri was formed in 1974 in Torino, Italy, by drummer Furio Chirico, following his departure in the Trip. Drawing account in the cream of the neighborhood jazz-rock picture, Arti & Mestieri often found themselves writing a costs with Region, the long-running kings of this particular arena. Nevertheless, their renown was in a way that they also opened up for several visiting acts, especially Gentle Large. Arti & Mestieri’s debut record in 1974, Tilt, received a whole lot of interest but just hinted on the group’s accurate features — a live record out of this period made an appearance on the Vinyl fabric Magic label in 1990 and, despite poor audio quality, offers an even more fascinating family portrait of the group completely flow. It had been the next year’s Giro di Valzer per Domani that set up Arti & Mestieri being a force to become reckoned with, even more so because the recruitment of previous Procession vocalist Gianfranco Gaza. Two vocal monitors over the band’s debut acquired proven one of the weakest music around the corner; Gaza brought a fresh and welcome aspect to the audio, so much so the band’s label, Cramps, also released an individual from the record, “Saper Sentire,” supported by the instrumental “Valzer per Domani.” Not surprisingly breakthrough, it might be another four years before a fresh Arti & Mestieri record made an appearance. Released in 1979, Quinto Stato, while offering lots of the same players as its forerunner, was even so a disappointment, an extremely pedestrian jazz-rock excursion that preceded the band’s break up. Chirico released two additional albums beneath the Arti & Mestieri banner, 1983’s Acquario and Children’s Blues 2 yrs afterwards, before he transformed his focus on teaching and building his popularity as you of Italy’s most important drummers — he’s the only real Italian ever to seem in the American Contemporary Drummer Festival, in 2002. He in addition has released a small number of single albums. Of his bandmates, guitarist Gigi Venegoni also released a single career, cutting a minimum of two albums beneath the name Venegoni & Co. Arti & Mestieri re-formed in 2001 around Chirico, Venegoni, and fellow founders key pad participant Beppe Crovella and bassist Marco Gallesi. Associated with Quarto Stato-era key pad participant Marco Cimino and violinist Corrado Trabuio, the re-formed music group released a fresh recording, Murales, in 2001.
